Borussia Dortmund – Augsburg

Borussia Dortmund hosts Augsburg at the Signal Iduna Park in a match from the 16th round of the Bundesliga. Let’s see what we can tell you in our preview for the game.

Borussia Dortmund can’t be too happy with their position in the league standings – they are currently 6th with 25 points won. This puts Die Borussen 9 points behind the leader Bayern Munich, but just two points behind the 4th Eintracht Frankfurt. What they need to do now is find a better consistency.

The good news for Dortmund is the return of the striker Sebastian Haller. The former West Ham star missed the beginning of the season after he was diagnosed with cancer. Now Haller is back and he can play his first game with Borussia Dortmund’s shirt. It would be a big moment for him and the fans.

In Haller’s absence, Youssoufa Moukoko made a good impression for Dortmund. The 18-years old striker has scored 6 league goals since the beginning of the season.

Augsburg are not having a good season at all. They are 14th in the standings with 15 points which puts them too close to the relegation zone. Before the World Cup they lost three of their last five games, not winning once. That’s something they have to change.

The Bosnian striker Ermedin Demirovic is one of the players who could help Augsburg improve. Before the winter break, Demirovic has scored 5 goals in the Bundesliga for the club. If he can continue like this he could achieve double digits and eventually help Augsburg survive.

That’s our preview for the Bundesliga clash between Borussia Dortmund and Augsburg on Sunday. The hosts are favorites to take the win here – that’s for sure. Meanwhile the visitors must find a way to step up because they could find themselves in a real danger here.
