Chelsea – Crystal Palace

Chelsea hosts Crystal Palace at the Stamford Bridge in a match from the 4th round of the Premier League. It’s a difficult moment for the Blues at the moment, but they are keen on getting back on the right track.

Chelsea won just one of its last four matches in all competition. Frank Lampard’s team made a 3-3 draw with West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League’s previous round while they also got eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Tottenham. Clearly Chelsea didn’t do well enough in the last two games, but there is room for improvement.

On Tuesday Chelsea paid a visit to Tottenham Hotspur for the Carabao Cup. Timo Werner scored his first goal for the club, but it ended 1-1 and during the penalties Spurs did better.

Just as expected Frank Lampard made some changes in his line-up. Players like Mendy, Tomori and Hudson-Odoi got themselves in the starting eleven while some other recieved a rest. Kai Havertz was one of them – the German international remained on the bench for the whole game.

Crystal Palace started the new season very well. Roy Hodgson’s team is currently 6th in the Premier League standings with 6 points won from the first three matches. They actually won their first two matches in the league before suffering their first defeat against Everton at the Selhurst Park.

Cheikhou Kouyate scored for Palace against Everton, but the Toffees scored one more at the end. Still it is a good beginning of the season for Hodgson’s team.

For Chelsea this is a chance to get back on the right track. We still believe the Blues have a lot of potential at the moment, despite some missteps in the first few matches. Crystal Palace are going to be a tough opponent, though – Hodgson’s team is getting better this season.
